During our geography study of Russia, we touched on the Matryoshka nesting dolls. I found a fun and simple art project on my favorite art teacher blog, called DeepSpaceSparkle.com. We layered three different sized templates to draw the outline of the three dolls. Then the kids added their own detail to each doll with a black sharpie. They added sparce color, then cut them out and glued them onto a background that they had painted brightly with either warm or cool watercolor shades. The littles were able it participate, which was a bonus. I wish I had pictures of the finished project, but you get the jist.
