Penny walks into my room with her head hung low.
"I'm sad. Gabriel hurt my feelings. "-penny
"well that's too bad. What did he do?"-me
"He won't share things with me."-penny
"Did you tell him that makes you sad?"-mom
"Yeah...but I don't want to tell his dad... Because I don't want to get him in trouble. I'll just stay away fwum him and go play somewhere else."-Penny
No tattling! Remove yourself from the situation! Don't take it personal! All suggestions I offer to my children and their friends when the squabbling begins. It never stops them though. They seem hard wired to find great joy in busting each other and handle every disagreement in the most counterproductive way possible.
Penny has actually grasped it.
