Mrs. Riley and I had our first parent-teacher conference regarding Gabby this morning. All 3's across the board! Letters, numbers, rules, participation, citizenship, and attendance are all fantastic. She is preforming at slightly above the standards. Some kids are ahead of her, although, they are mostly already six or in their second year of kindergarten. She mentioned that Gabby has her moments when she doesn't listen or follow concrete directions. She and Nicole try to just give her love. Erin reminded me that Gabby is only 5. She seems older, but she is still very young and I need to remember that, when she is being naughty to get attention. "She's a GOOD GIRL!" said Mrs. Riley. She raved about her good heart and how she will be friends with anybody. I asked if she thought she would be a leader or a follower. She said a leader... and she doesn't like other kids acting like leaders either. She stands up to bossiness. I've always known her to assume the alpha-female position. She seems to have befriended the other alpha-female in the class, Madison. Maybe those two are considering the old saying, "keep your friends close...and your enemies closer..."
