An October Weekend in 2010
Friday night, Gene and I took Penny to the deli and introduced our neighbor Destiny to the peeps there, as she was looking for a part time job. Penny munched on turkey and danced to the beat. We went to my favorite yogurt shop, Pinkberry. We enjoyed a scorching morning out on the soccer field, as we watched Gabby play in her soccer game. Penny brought her "Fancy Nancy" doll and charmed the parents around us. Gabby enjoyed playing Goalie. Kaia had the week off and really enjoyed lounging at Gammy's house. I spent the remainder of the afternoon, working on Gabby's Cleopatra costume in Gammy's dining room. Penny stomped around, Kaleb worked in the "shop" with Uncle, Kaia toiled at different creative projects, and Gabby watched me sew and fiddled around the house. In the evening, we had "Family Night"!!! We got clean, cuddled on the couch and watched some abstract and artsy kids movie that Gene ordered from Netflix. I french braided the girls hair (which happens to be therapy for me), and there was a lot of popcorn. Penny ate chow mein noodles ...which leads me to the following day's events. Gene, Gammy, myself and the kids hit the road for Apple Hill, which Kaia referred to as "Johnny Appleseed World" several times. It was a beautiful day. We ate apple donuts at the Rainbow Orchards, and sat on a big green tractor. We visited a petting zoo, got lunch, perused a pumpkin patch, and picked flowers at the following stop. Gammy predicted that Garett would name his first born daughter "Montgomery"....I briefly ceased breathing from laughter. Kaleb required us to pull over on the freeway because his tummy hurt and he needed a diaper to have a bowl movement in. (He tried dribbling water directly on his stomach, which didn't seem to help at all). There is some video footage of this, that Kaia took on my phone. will upload shortly. Kaia, unfortunately did not feel her best. She slept through the second stop, in the car, and was too ill to get out of the car for the third, so we called it quits, and just headed home. When we got home she was thrilled to "Not be homesick anymore!". Bottomline-she was exhausted and had to go potty pretty badly. When we got home, we had dinner at Gam's , with Uncle T's homemade spaghetti sauce. I worked on Cleopatra and Gabby finally got to sew on some of the decorative pieces that she had picked out from the very beginning. She was so excited to add her own personal touch.
