Fourth of July 2010
What a great Fourth! Annie and Tia I came to visit. Annie, Irene, and Gene cooked up some delicious mexican food and Gene BBQ alongside Jerry. We sat out front, with great music, amazing food and drinks, and a great bunch of folks. Neighbor Darwin contributed a delicious pineapple infused vodka drink, which was far to easy to drink. Gammy brought over 5 sensational fruit pies, stuffed with blueberries, strawberries, peaches, nectarines, and rhubarb. The kids decorated cupcakes with Gammy and Penny stuck her face in one( or two or three!). Kaleb lost his pants right away and developed a thick layer of dirt, sugar, and god knows what else. There was romance in the air, as Scotty Cozy smooched his new 24 hour girlfriend all night. Uncle Phil and the girls came to join us as well. When the fireworks started, Kaia and Gabby were thrilled; they had been waiting all year for this moment! We couldn't keep any of the neighborhood kids away from the sparklers. Kaleb even lit a few. The real challenge was keeping Kaleb away from the ice cold keg beer that Gene kept distributing from our garage! The "good-time-party-house" even joined us for basketball, food, drinks, and conversation until 2 am.
Quilts
I completed two quilts for my dear friends and mothers-to-be Crystal and Natalie. There were many stressful and frustrating moments, involving the sewing machine, the sewing machine repair shop, thread, tension, and sleep deprivation. Gene was happy to have his wife back, when they were finally completed. I worked late nights and weekends when the kids were at Gammy's. They took me about 6 months to finish at that snail's pace. I enjoyed it so much, and I couldn't have done it without Gammy's help. She helped me pick out fabric ( I tried to match the colors to the baby nursuries), and helped me out when I would get stuck or confused. I look forward to sewing with my girls!
